Tesla Launches Regular Model Y in China with 10-Week Wait

Tesla begins selling the regular Model Y in China with delivery times of up to 10 weeks. Pricing remains unchanged from the Launch Series.

Tesla has officially started selling the regular Model Y in China, following the conclusion of its limited-time Launch Series. The standard version of the Model Y comes at the same price as Launch Series versions starting at RMB 263,500 ($36,180) for rear-wheel-drive models and RMB 303,500 ($41,670) for all-wheel-drive versions. The standard Model Y buyers will lose access to the bonus extended warranty that customers of Launch Series Model Y received.

The revamped regular Model Y was first unveiled in China on January 10, 2025, alongside the Launch Series. Cantonese clients received their Launch Series deliveries on February 26 although the franchise officially terminated its selling operations by February 28. Teas offers Chinese buyers two to four weeks for rear-wheel-drive packages and six to ten weeks for long-range all-wheel-drive packages through its website.

 

Delivery Wait Times and Factory Output

The regular Model Y is manufactured at Tesla’s Shanghai factory, which also produces the Model 3 electric sedan. The Model 3 delivers within a timeframe of 1-3 weeks despite its high market demand across all its variants at Tesla’s facilities. In contrast, the extended wait times for the regular Model Y reflect its growing popularity among Chinese consumers.

As part of its promotions Tesla presents a two-fold benefit structure combining insurance coverage funding of RMB 8,000 worth ($1,100) along with zero-interest financing spanning five years. These offers, extended until March 31, apply to the rear-wheel-drive and long-range all-wheel-drive versions of both the Model 3 and the regular Model Y, but not to the performance versions.
