Renault 4 E-Tech: Iconic Car Reborn as Electric Marvel

0

Renault has resurrected the iconic Renault 4, this time as the Renault 4 E-Tech, an all-electric crossover that seamlessly blends nostalgia with cutting-edge technology. The Renault 4 E-Tech pays homage to its predecessor, which was produced from 1961 to 1994 and sold over 8 million units worldwide, while embracing the future of electric mobility.

The Renault 4 E-Tech boasts a retro-futuristic design that immediately captures attention. The most obvious and at the same time the most significant innovation is the active illuminated grille measuring 1450 mm in width with an individual illuminated profile that is always on. This design feature was developed jointly by Renault and the design, engineering, and industry departments of Ampere.

A Fusion of Iconic Design and Modern Elements

Gilles Vidal, Design Director of Renault and Ampere, expressed the passion and emotion behind reviving the Renault 4 E-Tech as a versatile, 100% electric city car that combines functionality with ultra-modern design. The new model incorporates the instantly recognizable profile of the original while presenting a shoulder that is sophisticated and technological details that make it a a contemporary city car with a clever mix of refinement and boldness.

The Renault 4 E-Tech features numerous design elements that pay homage to its predecessor. The bonnet lines slope down on the sides and that gives the grille a vertically formation like the model in the history. The designing references of the upper part of the bonnet are the bodies of the Renault car of the sixties particularly the grille.

A Palette of Chic and Elegant Colors

The Renault 4 E-Tech is available in seven sophisticated colors: Ice White, Road Grey, Étoilé Black, Carmine Red, Terracotta, Hauts-de-France Green and Celeste Blue. The above mentioned colors make the vehicle even more stylish and the exterior design modern.

Inside, the Renault 4 E-Tech offers three distinct trim levels: Three themes include: Evolution, Techno, and Iconic. The Evolution trim includes the lighter colour for the dashboard and door panels with the strict black and grey Californian interior with accents in blue, white and red – the colours of the French flag. The Techno trim is denim-inspired, and the fabric is a rich blue, recycled polyester; the copper studs say ‘Carry on you are in a Renault 4’. You’re in a Renault 4).

A Refined and Sporty Interior

The Iconic version of the Renault 4 E-Tech immerses occupants in a refined and sporty atmosphere. The seat and headrest are realised through a houndstooth patterned fabric with yellow stitching and partly recycled, organically sourced Textile Refined (TEP) fabric. Yellow accents are also applied to watch strap motifs on the front seats, rear bench and dashboard; the dashboard also contains laser engraving of the backlite Renault 4 emblem.

Renault’s Lead Designer of Colors and Materials, Miguel-Angel Iranzo-Sanchez takes the intent of referencing Pierre Dreyfus and his ‘blue-jeans car’ concept. The use of jeans-inspired fabric gives the Renault 4 E-Tech a versatile character, making it suitable for all uses.

The rebirth of the Renault 4 as the Renault 4 E-Tech electric crossover is a testament to Renault’s commitment to electric mobility and its ability to reinvent classic designs for the modern era. By combining iconic design elements with advanced technology and a focus on sustainability, the Renault 4 E-Tech is poised to become a beloved and versatile everyday electric car that appeals to both nostalgic fans and environmentally conscious consumers alike.
