The initiative, led by a tech company based in Silicon Valley called PsiQuantum aims to revitalize the region by 2027 introducing state of the art technology and creating employment opportunities, for the residents.

The South Works site, which was formerly home, to a steel mill is now set to lead the way in the quantum computing revolution. PsiQuantum intends to construct the nations utility scale, fault quantum computer employing more, than 1 million qubits. This quantum computing campus will not only advance the field but also bring economic revival to the Southeast Side.
Quantum Computing Campus Promises Jobs and Growth
The quantum computing campus is estimated to cost $9 billion and could attract up to $20 billion in private investments over the next decade. PsiQuantum anticipates generating a minimum of 150 positions within a five year span encompassing roles from quantum physics specialists to software engineers and technical laboratory staff. The initiative could result in the creation of job opportunities, including both temporary positions as the quantum computing sector expands.
