2025 Kia EV6: A Facelifted Electric Marvel with More Range

0

The 2025 Kia EV6, a modern electric vehicle that helped cement Kia’s place in the EV market, has received a subtle yet impactful facelift. Launched in 2021, the EV6 was unique for its sharp design, promising range and ability to recharge quickly. Kia has since improved its EV6’s aesthetics, and added improved technology to make sure the car stays competitive against newer electric vehicle rivals.

Modest though the exterior changes are, they add more prominent headlight designs, refreshed bumpers and a wider light bar out back. It does what it is meant to do: It keeps the EV6s angular fastback silhouette, but the tweaks give it a fresher, more modern look. With these updates, the 2025 Kia EV6 continues to exude sophistication and excitement.

Better Battery and Improved Range

One of the most significant upgrades to the 2025 Kia EV6 is its enhanced battery. Now all models in the UK come with an 84 kWh battery replacing the 77.4 kWh pack used previously. The bigger battery, which is added on for the Tesla-child, increases the EV6’s range by 361 miles (581 km) on the WLTP fuel cycle for single motor models, and 339 miles (546 km) for dual motor versions.

For the U.S., the base model gains a battery from 58 kWh to 63 kWh and its EPA-estimated range increases from 319 miles (513 km) to 315 miles (507 km). These improvements also ensure that the EV6 remains one of the most range efficient EVs in its class which means that it’s a practical choice for those who are going to use it for long distances.

Refined Interior with Enhanced Tech

The interior of the 2025 Kia EV6 has also seen thoughtful refinements. Overall, the layout is the same, but the dashboard is now a pair of 12.3 inch digital displays concealed behind a single rectangular pane of glass. The EV6 updates bring it to line up with Kia’s newer models, the EV9, and delivers a unique spin via strip of touch sensitive buttons.

All trims now get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so your phone seamlessly connects. While the center console is very large, touching the remaining storage down there is still inconvenient. While this is the case, the cabin continues to impress with its spaciousness, especially in the back, where the soft knees room and decent head room are more than adequate.

Performance: Agile and Responsive

The 2025 Kia EV6 delivers a fun and dynamic driving experience. The version with a single motor sends out 225 horsepower (168 kW) and is good for 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds. While this isn’t as quick as some competitors, the instant torque from the electric motor means responsive city driving and action on highways.

The dual motor version produces 320 horsepower (239 kW) and has all-wheel drive, resulting in a 5.3 second 0 to 62 mph time. There’s a flagship GT that tops out at an astonishing 641 horsepower, but that car still hasn’t been driven. On the whole, the EV6 feels particularly tight and spirited in its handling, and without ever rushing to stiff, but still very quality overall.

Practicality Meets Style

The 2025 Kia EV6 is as practical as it is stylish. Generous to its rear passenger space and ideal for families or just long journeys. But the cargo area is shallow, lacking real use compared with some of its peers. Small front trunks come with single motor models, but in dual motor ones they are nearly negligible.

While the EV6 isn’t perfect, it’s the best-rounded package available. It is practical because it has its fast charging capability meaning the battery can charge from 10 to 80 per cent in just 18 minutes through a 260 kw charger. U.S. models gain convenience for drivers with the addition of a standard North American Charging Standard (NACS) socket.

Should You Buy the 2025 Kia EV6 Now?

The 2025 Kia EV6 is undoubtedly a strong contender in the EV market, with its improved range, refined interior, and stylish design updates. Even to this day it’s a high quality electric vehicle that delivers practicality, performance, and state of the art technology.

But those associated with potential buyers may want to wait for the upcoming Kia EV5, the EV5 which is expected to offer similar features in a smaller SUV package. The EV5 is sure to be the next hot seller that will grab people’s attention when it’s released, even more so than the EV9 as that is already impacting EV6 SUV sales. But for those who prefer a sporty fastback over an SUV, the 2025 Kia EV6 remains an excellent choice.
